Dr. Samira Korfali is an associate professor in the Natural Science Department of the Lebanese American University; been a faculty in Chemistry Department since 1977 ,and the chairperson of the department form the year 2006-2010. She has M.S degree in Physical Chemistry/ Analytical-Instrumentation form AUB and a Ph.D. in Environmental Geochemistry from Bradford University, UK. She is an active researcher and her research interest are concerned with mechanism of metal deposition in alluvial systems, speciation of metals in sediment, soil and water, assessment of water resources, other research topics is noise pollution in cities. Her research work has been exposed in conference presentation and in International Journal publications and been acknowledged internationally. She has participated in international workshops related to path, remediation and risk assessment of toxic metal in the environment. She has reviewed quite a number of scientific manuscripts for possible publication in International Scientific Journal. She has received Said Akl’s Award in the year 2001 for creative research. She has been offered many times research grants from the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research, (CNRSL). She is a member of the European Branch of the Society of Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SEGH), European Water Resource Association (EWRA), and the Lebanese Association for the Advancement of Science (LAAS). In addition, selected form a large group and invited as global scientist to attend the World Economic Forum on Science and Technology, Dead Sea, 2009 and acted a discussion leader for the Role Model Scientist.
