SASTA participates in the “World Economic Forum Summit on the Global Agenda”

In his capacity as President of SASTA, the WEF invited Wael Al-Delaimy to be part of a symposium on the future of universities at the Summit on the Global Agenda held in Abu Dhabi, UAE on November 20th, 2013. The Global AgendaSummit is held every other year in Abu Dhabi and discusses importantworld issues from sustainability, civil society, business and academiaby inviting global leaders in business, science, politics, and civil societies to come up with solutions to pressing and complex world issues.
The invitation of SASTA was to represent a model of how universitiescan be advanced through expatriate scientists in the diaspora. Theother panelists represented world leaders of academia in the US, Asiaand Africa, including the Vice President of Yale, Deputy Director of Development from the Gates Foundation, and professors from Universitiesof Colombia, Ibadan, and Georgia Institute of Technology, as well asdirectors of other international organizations.
SASTA members Khalid Qaraqe from Texas A &M – Qatar, Marwan Khraisheh from UAE MASDAR Institute, and Hassan Azzazy from American University in Cairo were invited and attended to represent the perspective of local universities in the region.
