Dr. Khalid Qaraqe received the 2018 IEEE Signal Processing Magazine Best Column Award.
Board member Dr. Khalid Qaraqe received the 2018 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Signal Processing Magazine Best Column Award. The award was given to Dr. Erchin Serpedin and Dr. Khalid Qaraqe, along with their former doctoral student Dr. Sangwoo Park, for their paper titled “Gaussian Assumption: The Least Favorable but the Most Useful,” which was published in the March 2013 issue of the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine. The work presented in this paper has countless applications in many fields, such as signal and image processing, computer vision, machine learning, radar, biomedical engineering, wireless communications and system identification. Dr. Qaraqe is a professor in the electrical and computer engineering program at Texas A&M at Qatar. His research interests lie in the fields of wireless communications and remote health technologies.
