April-10, Naples Palestine, Dr. Kahlid Qaraqe and Dr. Mohamed Milad, SASTA members, Visited the West Bank and participated in the First Global Conference of Palestinian Academics in Diaspora and Abroad.
The primary objectives of the conference were to
- Building bridges of connections, cooperation, and coordination between Palestinian academics in Diaspora and abroad and their homeland; Palestine;
- To identify the areas and scope of cooperation and joint ventures between Palestinian academics and scholars in Diaspora and abroad and relevance institutes in Palestine;
- To realize effective and vibrant interaction between Palestinian academics and scholars in Diaspora and abroad and relevance institutes in Palestine;
- To reap the benefits of Palestinian experiences worldwide in scholarship and research;
- To establish joint research and scholarship institutions between these expertise and institutions at home;
- To encourage Palestinian scholars to Return and to urge their children to enroll in Palestinian universities at home especially in the fields of humanities and social sciences en-route of consolidating connections and correspondence with Palestine; the land and the people;
- To pursue the formation of a forum in which Palestinian scholars may involve in Diaspora and abroad in order for them to organize, pool efforts, and gather momentum for the good of their people and their land, their people’s cause and rights in a changing world; and
- To remove the obstacles that hinder the realization of these objectives and goals.
