Jordan University of Science and Technology
SASTA has been in an ongoing active relationship with Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), in Irbid, Jordan. An MoU was signed between SASTA and JUST to support the exchange of students, professors and collaborations with the SATSA members’ home universities in the United States and Europe. As a result, Wael Al-Delaimy, President and Board member of SASTA, pursued an MoU between his university (UCSD: The University of California, San Diego) and JUST. He was also appointed an advisor to the President of JUST on research.
In the last year SASTA has facilitated inclusion of JUST to take a major role in the First Arab Expatriate Scientist Meeting in Cairo in December 2012 and then lead the ICT-Health initiative from that conference. The vice-President of JUST Dr. Omar Al-Jarrah is the Director of the ICT-Health Center of Excellence. SASTA has also facilitated communication and support by professors from the US and JUST faculty in the areas of energy and innovation, reviewed and provided revisions to the research strategy of JUST, drafted a research proposal for a faculty to submit for local funding, included JUST in the pan-Arab natural products initiative, represented by Wael Al-Delaimy on the nanotechnology center advisory board, put JUST as a training center on a grant submitted for funding in the United States NIH funding agency, and offered other advise on individual bases for faculty seeking to further their career and research collaborations.
